Juicy Couture

It's done!

This is my entry at my work "Off the Clock - Art on Your Own Time"   and for the Glendale Quilt Show....

Last year while hanging out at the volunteer booth, I thought their wearable display needed something "green"....

I'm really happy that I followed my thought through to completion!

Here's a collage of the process:

Weekend's almost here!

I just love the weekends... it's MY time.... I get to do what I want.  Too bad that I didn't plan my a career.  I so envy those people that have a career that they love - I on the other hand just have a job.   I do like my job and I work at a great place, with really nice people, but it's just a job..... so, what's the plan for the weekend.

Well, I need to finish my capri sun jacket.... I need about 10 more juice bags to finish the sleeve.... I guess that means, juice for dinnner!   Last night I added the snap closures and sewed up the 1 side seam.  The contest on PR ends the 31st, so I need to have it done by then.

Here's a sneak peak.. (although it was taken with my cell, so it's rather blury)  I actually think it's kinda cute and surprisingly it is wearable and not too uncomfortable.  The juice bags are fairly sturdy and pliable.

Also on the list for the weekend, last night I went through some of my kimono fabrics and cut out some coordinating fabrics for a bag and eyeglass cases.  I always like to take a break from garment sewing with some sort of accessory.

Saturday, I'm going to LACMA to check out the Vanity  Fair exhibit before it closes.  There is also a Hearst Collection exhibit which I'm going to check out.   I try to remember to bring my camera!

Here's what I've been up to.  First is my Burda WOF cape.   The first version I made with "vintage" wool, didn't work out too well.  the wool was stained and I didn't notice until it was almost done.  So, this is my second version.    Here's a link to the pattern  http://www.burdafashion.com/en/Magazines/Archives/101_A_Cape/1270777-1463237-1654561-1654563-1654613.html

and here's a link to my review  http://sewing.patternreview.com/cgi-bin/readreview.pl?readreview=1&reviewnum=36069

This second photo is a skirt.   Here's a link to the pattern http://www.voguepatterns.com/item/V8561.htm??tab=whats_new&page=3    and here's a link to the review  http://sewing.patternreview.com/cgi-bin/readreview.pl?readreview=1&reviewnum=35993

I really like this skirt.   If you are like me and do not read instructions, please read the instructions for this pattern.  She has inserted lots of nice tips that will help with making this skirt.  I can't wait to make this skirt again, in a linen!
