Easy Weekend Sewing

Before I head out to the yard to "reorangize" my plants and to plant new ones, I thought I'd upload my weekend sewing....

I found this wonderful Japanese cotton, blue at New Moon Textiles in Pasadena and had to have it.  Didn't know what to make, then found this pattern: Indygo Junctions, Easy Silhouette Vest

and using some silver silk/jacquard (I really don't know what it is, but I like it) I made a reversible vest.  It just needs a funky button of some sort

I purposely let the fabric from the other side show as a sort of piping.

I also made this Vogue 2882 skirt and top. The top has a bar shoulder and I'm not too sure if I like it, but the skirt is really cute on.  and since it is made out of a characol double knit, it will be wash and wear!  The blue tee is Vogue 8534, another too simple tee!  no hems, no face, no set in sleeves.  Although I think it needs a softer knit than the one I used.  But, the blue tee whips up in less than an hour from cut to finish!

I got a few more items that I've made the past few weeks to post, but I should head outside and plant my plants!

30th (gulp) High School Reunion

I went to my 30th reunion ice breaker party last nite.  Tonite is the actual "reunion" dinner, dance, wear a dress, thing, which I am not attending.  I went last nite to the ice breaker with my friend Kim and had an interesting time.  The one thing I concluded is that everyone is the same except for the fact that we are all   most are now comfortable with who we are and what we have become.  I also discovered that I knew most people either because I was a girl scout or through a sister or brother.  But most knew just of me.  Here's some photos I took.

I'm still pondering the thought of going to tonite's actual reunion... but it's saturday and I want to hang out at home, watch my movies and sew!

Vogue Pattern Sale

Vogue patterns are on sale... $3.99 at Joanns

Here's my list:

I really like the back of this and have some really lightweight sweater knit that this may work with

I probably won't make this, and not sure if I really like it, but want the pattern to check out the technique.

I want to make this dress for Katelyn.  I think it will be a cute dress for a dance.  I have some wonderful 4 ply royal blue silk... yum!

not sure about the jacket, but do find it interesting enough to get the pattern.

I like the pleated neckline....

I like Marcy Tilton designs and techniques.  Although her patterns do run a bit big, so beware

and finally, these scarves look fun!

But Where's the Sewing Room?

Look at this beautiful house, featured in this week's LA Times

I mean it's beautiful, the view, the windows, the lap pool.  But I see lots of outdoor lighting to sew by.  I can almost imagine my sewing machine against one of those windows.... can you imagine, sewing with THAT view!  You certainly wouldn't need an OTT light!

Then I look at the inside.... beautiful, clean, and again the views....

but where's the sewing machine?  Where's the dust bunnies?  Where's the pins, pieces of thread, and fabric?!  I don't understand what people do in these houses?  I mean, what do they really DO?  I LIVE in my house, I couldn't live here

Heck, if I had the money to have a house like this!  I'd just have a bigger fabric stash!

But oh, I'd love to have those windows to peer our of as I sewed!
